The Transfer Tavern’s Chelsea drinkers are looking nervously towards the summer window, amid reports claiming Real Madrid are interested in their talismanic attacker Eden Hazard.
The Belgium international was a shadow of his former self last term but has rediscovered his best form this season, playing a crucial role in Chelsea’s march to the Premier League’s summit as their main creative threat.
According to London Evening Standard, the playmaking winger has emerged as Real Madrid’s main transfer target for the summer, to the extent that they’re willing to set a new record transfer fee by putting a whopping £100million on the table.
But the capital-based newspaper claim Chelsea don’t want to sell the 26-year-old and are now even more determined not to because they fear it could disrupt ongoing contract talks with Antonio Conte.
The Blues want to reward the Italian with a new deal as they inch towards the Premier League title in his first season at the club, but he wants assurances that he’ll be backed in the coming transfer window and Chelsea are fearful that the recent Hazard speculation could place doubts in his mind.
Much to the delight of our Chelsea drinkers, it’s further added that Hazard is believed to have no intention of forcing a move to the Bernabeu, with questions over his playing time in the same team as Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale one of his biggest concerns.
