Chelsea face the threat of a two-year transfer ban which would severely affect their recruitment strategy in upcoming windows.

The Blues are facing allegations of illegally signing players under the age of 16. Reports suggest Chelsea were paying huge sums of money to families of youth talents in order to lure them to the club. If found guilty, Chelsea could face a two-year transfer ban which could cost the club dearly in the race for the Premier League title.

If Chelsea are to be banned from signing players, Maurizio Sarri would be wise to strengthen in the upcoming January transfer window. The Italian was given little time to tailor his squad after replacing Antonio Conte and is keen to bolster his attacking options.

One man who should be on his shortlist is Borussia Dortmund superstar – Christian Pulisic. Valued at £40.5m by Transfermarkt, the USA international is widely regarded as one of the most promising youngsters in world football. The 19-year-old became the youngster player ever to represent his nation and has enormous marketing potential which Chelsea should be quick to take advantage of.

Pulisic is blessed with terrifying pace and can operate on either wing or in a central role. His speed and direct dribbling ability would cause nightmares for Premier League defences – he has averaged 1.9 successful dribbles per game in the Bundesliga this season (WhoScored). In Sarri’s attacking system, Pulisic would flourish and benefit from working alongside the likes of Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge.

Bringing America’s biggest talent to the Premier League would bring even more eyes to Chelsea which could be massive for their marketability across the pond. Still only 20-years-old, Pulisic is still improving and developing – he could be a mainstay in the Chelsea side for the next decade.
