The two Chelsea wonderkids fans will absolutely adore by the end of 2019

Chelsea haven’t exactly earned a name for themselves as shepherds of youth talent over the years, often relying on a strategy of loan, loan, loan, to develop their players. Which, more often than not, earns the unfortunate prospect a transfer away for all their troubles.

Under new boss Maurizio Sarri, however, things look to be improving slightly. Not the best by any means – but certainly better.

The Italian has a whole arsenal of players who have been strewn out to faraway lands at his disposal, and with the quality of some fairly obvious, will surely look to introduce them to the first-team squad to finally inject a bit of homegrown excitement into Stamford Bridge.

With that in mind, here are two wonderkids fans will adore by the end of 2019…

Callum Hudson-Odoi

An obvious one, providing the European elite don’t get their hands on him this summer.

The exciting winger has already shown his quality when playing for Chelsea this season, but has found himself scrapping for minutes with Willian, Sarri’s preferred starter.

Indeed, it’s plainly obvious why the Englishmen has attracted the interest of German giants Bayern Munich, who will be looking to replace veteran forward Arjen Robben following the announcement he’ll be leaving at the end of the season (as per BBC Sport).

Young, quick, technically gifted, and dynamic, Hudson-Odoi is, in the nicest sense, an absolute nightmare for opposition players. There’s a fearlessness about his game that comes only with top quality youth players, who take to the pitch like it’s the school playground not the toughest league in the world.

Ethan Ampadu

Ampadu is another young player who’s seen a bit more time in the first-team since Sarri’s arrival at the start of the 18/19 campaign.

Billed as a centre-back or defensive midfielder, the Wales international looks set to replace outgoing Gary Cahill at the beginning of next season.

We’re unconvinced that Ampadu possesses the physical stature to make it as a Premier League defender at only 5 ft 8. However, with Jorginho experiencing a dip in form, and Fabregas gone, there’s every chance he could put his talents to use in the middle of the park.
