Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are certainly eager to see their side do some serious business in the transfer window this summer.
The Blues enjoyed a return to the top of the Premier League tree in 2016/17 but now the hard work needs to start in terms of them signing new players for the new campaign with added Champions League football on the agenda.
Certainly, then, the squad needs a few more additions and with many of our punters worried that Diego Costa could decide to move off to another club – particularly with him recently saying about a move to Atletico Madrid – via The Independent, we’ve been considering who’d be the ideal replacement.
And, in many ways, there can only be one man – Alvaro Morata.
Evidently frustrated at Real Madrid, the Spanish striker has seen game time once again limited at the Bernabeu as he’s looked to forge a career for himself.
What he needs, then, is a club that is going to allow him to be the main figure head of an attack and Chelsea are perfectly set up for him to be just that.
Indeed, he plays similarly to Costa in the sense that he can carry the ball well under challenges and maraud about the front-line, shrugging off opposition players.
He may not be as aggressive as Costa – few players are – but he’s no less determined to succeed and he certainly knows where the goal is.
He just needs a chance to let all that hunger out, then, and if Costa does decide to move on this summer Morata would surely get the chance to do just that.
