Recently, Chelsea have been linked with a huge record-bid for Real Madrid star Gareth Bale by Spanish outlet Marca and the more you think about it, the more obvious it becomes that the Blues need a player of Bale’s calibre.
The Welshman, who turns 28 this year, has excelled in the Spanish capital since joining the club from Tottenham Hotspur almost four years ago and has lifted the Champions League twice in the past three seasons.
Despite this, there have always been murmurs of trouble in paradise and Bale’s name has consistently popped-up in the tabloids during the transfer windows.
Whilst Jose Mourinho’s side remain keen on Bale, Chelsea must ensure they do everything in their power to sign the Euro 2016 ace if he becomes available, as it would not only send a statement of intent to the rest o the Premier League but would also send shockwaves across Europe.
With Diego Costa potentially leaving this summer, Chelsea have just Eden Hazard as stand-out names in their side- whereas the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United have Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne respectively.
The fierce battle in the Premier League is now not only on the field but also behind the scenes, in every little aspect you can imagine, and signing Bale would catapult the club into the elite both financially and on the pitch.
With a top-class striker arriving this summer, an attacking trio that includes Hazard and Bale would be deadly, good enough to even rival Barcelona’s attacking trident- and the benefits would be substantial.
Of course, the price is a sticking point but it all comes down to one simple fact- Chelsea cannot afford to let Bale move to a rival Premier League side.
