While Chelsea could finish the season with a league and cup double, the insatiable nature of rumours and reports in the build-up to silly season has the punters in the Transfer Tavern already plotting for next season.
It’ll be interesting to see exactly what Blues boss Antonio Conte does with his squad in west London over the course of the summer, having largely inherited Jose Mourinho’s 2014/15 title winners.
Indeed, the Stamford Bridge faithful propping up our bar are discussing the future of Christian Atsu. The winger, who is yet to impose himself on first-team proceedings since arriving in 2013, recently posted a video on Instagram (one we’ve sourced via the Chronicle) showing Blues fans he was back at Cobham.
He spent the season on loan with Championship winners Newcastle United and it’s not yet clear as to whether or not the Toon Army will opt to make a permanent move for the 25-year-old.
Having seen so little of Atsu since he signed, the Chelsea fans in the bar aren’t entirely sure of what to make of him, though have heard good things from the Toon Army who frequent in their droves.
They just hope his future is sorted soon and Conte can move on to more pressing transfer matters.
