The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a tweet from Matt Law, The Telegraph’s football correspondent, that if Carlo Ancelotti was to rejoin Chelsea it would be a disaster given the club’s current squad. The Italian was in charge at Chelsea for just under two season’s between 2009 and 2011, winning the Premier League and the FA Cup during his time in London.
Some Chelsea fans already calling for Ancelotti to return. Personally, I think that would be a disaster with the current squad.

Ancelotti will forever be a name associated with the biggest clubs in Europe, having already managed Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Chelsea, PSG, Juventus and AC Milan and winning three Champions Leagues along the way. A number of Chelsea fans have called for the Italian tactician to return to the Bridge in the summer as fellow Italian, Antonio Conte is looking more and more likely to leave the club.
Conte has lasted longer than a lot of Chelsea managers and has almost completed his second term at a club that has become famed for ruthlessly binning managers after one poor season in charge. Conte could be heading down that path as he’s failed to live up to the lofty expectations he set himself when he won the Premier League last year. The writing has been on the wall for Conte for a number of weeks as Chelsea fans have been discussing who they want to see replace the Italian. A number of names have popped up in our bar room conversations, although we’ll have to wait until summer to see who Abramovich’s next man is.
You can read the Chelsea fans’ reaction to Matt Law’s tweet here:
Totally agree. Ancielotti is excellent at getting the best out of quality players. But a squad this unbalanced in terms of quality in different areas requires more of a rebuilding job and that’s not one of ancielotti’s strengths.

Even if Pep went to Chelsea in the summer, I don't think this bunch of players care enough to retain a title.

People calling for ancelotti are the same people that became Conte out in the last 2 weeks.

Will he cry and complain every week about the club and destroy the morale of the team? Nope. So it can't be any worse than what we are now.

Agreed lovely man but that squad at that time didn’t even need a manager – just a licence to play which he gave them in year 1

No Ancelotti please. To me his tactics leave more to be desired and I heard one reason he got fired at Bayern is cause some players turned against him, sound Familiar?.

Carlo was okay. But I think we'll struggle to find a coach of Conte's ability. Many fans don't realize where losing Conte will leave us.
