The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern need some cheering up.
Indeed, the Blues in our bar are keen on putting the loss to Manchester City prior to the international break behind them as they cling on to the hope of keeping up with the Manchester clubs in this season’s title race.
So, to take their minds off of things, reports from the Sun have gone down well of late.
They’ve sourced quotes from Italy legend Andrea Pirlo in regards to the idea of him joining the club’s backroom staff, to work alongside former Azzurri coach, Antonio Conte. The pair worked together with the national side, as well as Juventus, and Pirlo recently revealed he would retire in December after his spell with New York City FC in the MLS.
Pirlo hinted he will carry on doing ‘something else’ following his retirement at the end of the year and was coy on the idea of linking up with Conte.
“I’ll do something else. Work with Conte?”, he said.
“They say things, I have some ideas but give me time to decide.”
It’s hard to see Conte sticking about Chelsea for too much longer, so perhaps Pirlo moving there would be somewhat of a pipe dream.
