Optimism, confidence and belief in Chelsea’s team, right now, is probably at an all-time low, something Maurizio Sarri must accept he is to blame. Despite having one of the best teams in Europe, it’s fair to say Chelsea fans have been enduring the deployment of Sarri-ball, rather than enjoying it.
Considering that their campaign started off so well, the enigmatic Italian is now facing another personal trophyless season and the possibility of no Champions League football once again for Chelsea. Indeed, whether he stays in the hot seat past this season or not, Chelsea have some real issues to try and solve but without being able to sign anyone, their youngsters must finally be given a proper chance.
At long last, right? At long, long last.
For all the young talent Chelsea have had over the years, it’s very rare to see a player who goes on to be a success at Stamford Bridge but one man who certainly can is Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Hudson-Odoi, (who is valued at £22.5 million on Transfermarkt) has proven recently to be the ultimate winger-in-waiting with his hugely impressive caps for England.
Having been called straight into the first-team, the 18-year-old showed exactly what Chelsea are missing by not starting him regularly. It’s quite unbelievable to think that he is yet to start in the Premier League this season and for a player of his quality, he will simply shine somewhere else if they continue to deny him opportunities.
The Englishman has totalled six goals and six assists this season and yet still he can’t manage a start ahead of Pedro or Willian in the league.
Playing him regularly could have the feel of a new signing for Chelsea and that’s something they have to look into doing after seeing his most recent performances. With the transfer ban casting a dark cloud over Stamford Bridge, trusting the academy graduate to lighten things up seems like an instant win for the club, who certainly need it right now.
Do you agree that Hudson-Odoi must be given more of a chance… Let us know Chelsea fans!
