Derby County were on the receiving end of a heavy defeat during their last Championship outing after losing 3-0 at home to Aston Villa in what was a very poor performance from Frank Lampard's men.

The Rams, however, still sit in the play-off spots and will be pleased with how their season overall has gone so far.

Harry Wilson and Mason Mount, in particular, can be satisfied with the contributions they have made to Derby during the current campaign, and the duo are almost certain to play big parts in any potential promotion success the club achieves down the line.

Harry Wilson

On loan from Liverpool, Wilson came to most neutral's attention back in September after he dispatched a fantastic free-kick away against Manchester United in Derby's dramatic Carabao Cup win at Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old, however, has brought so much more than his ability from set pieces to this Derby team.

He has been massive in how the Rams are currently playing under their new boss Lampard with his pace and directness in attack epitomising the sort of football the Chelsea legend is trying to implement at Pride Park.

The Wales international is often devastating in counter-attacks, using his speed to get up the pitch effectively with or without the ball before picking out the right pass or positioning himself well to receive one.

Regardless of what division they are playing in next season, Derby would be wise to do all they can to keep Wilson in their ranks.

Like Wilson, Mount is also a player dangerous from set pieces. But again, he is another individual who has much more to offer.

Capable of playing in midfield and slightly further, Mount has excellent vision and is an exceptional passer of the ball.

What is perhaps most impressive about the 19-year-old, though, is his decision making. Mount often gets his head up and makes the right pass during an attack, which shows great maturity.

Last season, Mount spent last season on loan in the Eredivisie with Vitesse, and it is an experience that looks to have helped the England U21 international grow significantly as a footballer.

Going forward, on top of Wilson, Derby must try to retain Mount beyond this campaign. But given his ability, it would not be a surprise to see him return and stay in Maurizio Sarri's Chelsea side next year.

TT Verdict:

In Wilson and Mount, Derby have two exceptional young talents on their hands who are progressing well at the club, which is obviously good news for both Liverpool and Chelsea.

At this moment of time, though, Mason looks to be the more in-form individual while ability wise, he is also the superior footballer.

All things considered, the Chelsea youth product has the potential to become a world-class midfielder.
