News has broke that Turkish side Galatasary are preparing to make a bid for Chelsea striker, Didier Drogba. The 32 year old Ivorian, is one of a number of Chelsea players who could find themselves on the transfer list at the end of the season as Abramovich looks to recoup some of the money he spent bringing Fernando Torres and David Luiz to Stamford Bridge in January.
Drogba is top of a list that also includes Florent Malouda, and it’s no surprise that already there is a good deal of interest for the forward, who has scored over 100 goals for the Blues, and is widely regarded as one of the world’s best players.
Galatasary have a surprisingly large transfer kitty, with which to tempt the big man, and are known for taking chances on slightly older players. However, they’re not the only ones chasing Drogba. The player is supposedly tempted by a return ‘home’ to his previous club Marseille. It remains to be seen whether some of the bigger clubs in Europe, like Barcelona or Inter Milan, will want to make a move for the Ivorian international. So far, it appears unlikely that Drogba will decide to finish his career in England.
With Torres on the scene, Chelsea fans will probably admit that Didier is now surplus to requirements. They can console themselves, however, with the thought that they got the best years out of the striker who has helped them to 3 league titles, 2 league cups and 3 FA Cups.
