The Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking forward to seeing how their side will line up this season.
Antonio Conte has made a number of adjustments to his squad this summer and Blues fans are anticipating more changes to be made before the window slams shut.
Chelsea have seen their midfield trimmed slightly following the departures of Nemanja Matic and Nathaniel Chalobah. The Blues have recruited Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko, but could benefit from another being welcomed to Stamford Bridge.
One player who has been the subject of a potential move this summer is Paris Saint-Germain defensive midfielder Marco Verratti.
The Italian is reportedly wanted by Barcelona, who will be seething after losing Neymar, one third of their formidable trio MSN.
Barcelona eye Veratti as the ideal replacement for the retired Xavi. However, after the Ligue 1 giants closed out a world record fee for Neymar, Chelsea could capitalise on PSG’s need to balance the books for Financial Fair Play.
Veratti impressed for the Parisians last season from the holding role. He anchored with an 89% passing accuracy and notched three goals and five assists for PSG.
The diminutive 24-year-old is a great reader of the game and possesses the ability to carry the ball from deep. He could be the perfect partner for either Bakayoko or Kante this season.
