Why haven’t Chelsea snapped up Man United’s lynchpin from last season?

With the Champions League lying in wait, Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are crying out for Antonio Conte to continue to strengthen his side.

After losing out on Romelu Lukaku last month, the Italian has turned to Alvaro Morata to be the hitman for Chelsea this season.

Despite getting off to a positive start with a goal in his first outing, the Spaniard’s goalscoring record isn’t exactly something to behold. The 24 year-old has netted just over 50 career goals and represents a slight gamble.

One striker who is guaranteed goals wherever he goes is Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swede is currently a free agent after being released by Manchester United at the end of last season.

Ibrahimovic was outstanding for Jose Mourinho’s side, netting 17 league goals and providing five assists in 2016/17.

Rumours are starting to circulate that the Red Devils have offered Ibrahimovic a return to Old Trafford. However, talks have been held over the 35 year-old becoming a coach alongside Mourinho.

We think the charismatic enigma still has another season at the top left in him and there’s no reason to believe otherwise.

With Champions League football to contend with this season, the Blues cannot risk operating with just two strikers.

Though the Belgian has improved, Michy Batshuayi is still unproven, while Diego Costa’s departure draws ever closer.

Antonio Conte should move quickly in order to lure Ibrahimovic from the clutches of Manchester United.

Thoughts, Blues fans? Could Ibra do a job at Chelsea? Let us know in the comments…
