Dimitri Payet may have earned his reputation as one of the most deadly free-kick takers in Europe, though a rather surprising stat has shocked the punters in the Transfer Tavern.
Despite the Frenchman often being lauded for his excellence, thanks to some stunning strikes last season, Opta have revealed another London-based wizard slightly edges him.
Chelsea midfielder Willian has scored one more free-kick than the Les Blues international since August 2015, with the Brazilian notching 6 to Payet’s five.
5 – Since August 2015, only Willian (6) has scored more direct free-kick goals for a PL side in all comps than Dimitri Payet (5). Winner.

Now, the former may not instantly spring to mind when you think of expert set-piece specialists quite as much as the 29-year-old Hammers star, though stats don’t lie.
That being said, some of Payet’s will live long in the memory.
So, with that in mind, who’s the best free-kick taker in the Premier League?
Willian may be more deadly, though the Irons ace has given fans from up and down England’s elite division some spectacular strikes to remember.
