Maurizio Sarri has reportedly lost patience with Alvaro Morata and will target a new striker in January.

Chelsea’s record signing has struggled immensely since joining from Real Madrid last summer, and his career at Stamford Bridge could be coming to an end. Reports suggest the Spain international has failed to impress Sarri during his time with the club and the Italian will no longer trust him to lead the line. The Blues will enter the transfer market to sign a new striker when the window reopens in January.

Sarri must be eager to relieve the goalscoring burden on the shoulders of Eden Hazard and give Chelsea an edge in a tight title race with both Liverpool and Manchester City. To replace Morata, the ex-Napoli boss should attempt to lure Sevilla forward – Wissam Ben Yedder – to the Premier League.

Valued at £25.2m by Transfermarkt, the France international moved to La Liga in 2016 after racking up an impressive scoring record with Toulouse. Ben Yedder hit double figures in Ligue 1 for three consecutive seasons and found the back of the net 17 times during his debut season with Sevilla. His excellent performances have continued since with Ben Yedder scoring nine in all competitions already this year.

Comfortable with either foot, the 28-year-old would be the perfect addition to the Chelsea front line. With excellent finishing ability, Ben Yedder would be the man to add goals to Sarri’s side. However, the Frenchman also excels at bringing others into the game, averaging 1.3 key passes per game in La Liga (WhoScored), which could result in even more goals for Hazard. The forward can also be deployed as a number ten, highlighting the option he would give to the Blues.

Sevilla would be unwilling to part with their prized asset without a huge transfer fee, but Chelsea are desperate to land a forward, and no expense should be spared.
