The Daily Mail have reported that Tottenham Hotspur’s playmaker, Luka Modric, has now become a target for oil-rich PSG. Although Manchester United were claimed to have put in a bid for the Croatian, the Spurs Chairman has constantly insisted that Luka is not for sale.
However, the newspaper does not go into detail about the rumoured transfer which questions the credibility and truth behind the story.
With no details of a proposed contract or transfer figure, it is hard to see the concrete truth in this story.
However, the article does tell us that Real Madrid and Chelsea are also looking at signing Modric. Who knew that a team which bids for a player wants to sign them? With Chelsea admitting that last summer they had numerous bids rejected, and this year being rewarded a large transfer budget due to their trophy win, any club would monitor a player who they have wanted for a long period of time, especially if they are allocated a large transfer budget!
But with Paris-Saint Germain reportedly willing to offer AC Milan £45,000,000 for their defender Thiago Silva, if this transfer is to take place, it would make Silva the most expensive defender ever, and overtaking expensive purchases earlier such as David Beckham and Luis Figo.
So whilst Luka Modric is being linked to a move away from White Hart Lane, it doesn’t look like Tottenham fans should be worried by this particular tabloid tale.
