Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are having second thoughts about this target after talkSPORT revealed that West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has rubbished talks of receiving a bid for Aaron Cresswell.
It was well documented earlier on in the week that the Blues were targeting the full-back following his impressive first season in the Premier League.
The former Ipswich man only joined the Hammers in the summer but now he is linked with moves to both Chelsea and Manchester City.
Not only is he a talented defender but also he is English, which is vital for the clubs in the Champions League as they have to think about registering a squad for Europe.
But it seems as though Chelsea are far from making a deal happen with the Hammers as Alladyce confirmed they had received no offers for the 25-year-old.
“As far as I am aware nobody has bid for Aaron Cresswell. So it is pure rumour and speculation which has to fill the huge amount of media space that you have to fill,” said Allardyce.
“Somebody will have whispered in your ear somewhere that Chelsea or whoever are interested in one of our players and it shifts across the board.
“I have even heard somebody say that we have put a £25m buyout [clause] on him. It’s the first I know.
“I haven’t heard anything from the owners to say if somebody wants Aaron Cresswell then we want £25m.”
