Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are debating amongst themselves at the bar after hearing the latest transfer rumours and, surprise surprise, it seems Antonio Conte is eyeing another Italian-based player.
TalkSport states Chelsea’s managerial elect is keen to sign Roma’s on-loan star Antonio Rudiger this summer, in a deal that could be worth around £24m.
The 23-year-old is approaching the end of his loan in Italy and will return to parent club Stuttgart in the summer but it’s unlikely he will remain with the Bundesliga side, as Roma are also keen on signing him on a permanent deal.
However, Chelsea will go toe-to-toe with the European giant as Conte looks to bolster his defensive line at Stamford Bridge, with the major task being replacing veteran captain John Terry, who will leave the club at the end of his contract in the summer.
Our landlord doesn’t feel Chelsea will land their man though, as he feels Rudiger is settled in Roma and will want Champions League football too.
Will Rudiger be a good asset for Chelsea? Let us know in the comments below!
