Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking up with interest as our landlord claims that the Blues may be set to miss out on one of their only remaining targets this summer, well according to Marca anyway.
The Spanish publication seem to think that Atletico Madrid are not allowing any more players to leave the Vicente Calderon, thus ending the transfer speculation over a Blues switch for Brazilian defender Miranda.
Jose Mourinho has been on the lookout for another central defender since the departure of David Luiz to Paris Saint-Germain.
Whilst the Chelsea boss may have secretly admitted that the squad as a whole is stronger without the Brazilian – shocking we know – ideally, the Special One would like another tried and tested defender before the campaign starts away to Burnley.
That will not be Miranda however with Diego Simeone convincing the star to stay, making it very clear just how vital Miranda is to his plans and the La Liga champions as a whole.
Chelsea fans. Where will Mourinho look now? Will it be the case that Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen come in and receive first team chances? Let us know your thoughts below.
