Chelsea’s transfer business finished for the season

Jose Mourinho is still up to his old tricksMetro have certainly grabbed the attention of Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern after they claimed that Jose Mourinho will not spend any more money this season.

Not only did the Chelsea manager claim that he was happy with the current squad at his disposal, but he also noted that nobody else would be leaving.

As one of our punters notes, we did have a sneaky feeling that Jose would spend in January – but we seem to be wrong.

Mourinho spoke ahead of the Champions League clash with FC Basel and noted that: “I will be happy if in January nothing happens with us.

“I spoke with the final group and I told them that I wish that in January everybody is happy and nobody wants to leave.

“I am happy with everybody and I don’t want anyone to come in. That’s what I want for January and that would be the perfect situation for us.”

Juan Mata has been one of the players linked with a move away from Chelsea alongside Demba Ba, but Mourinho seems to want both of them to remain.

As we pour gravy over our pie and mash, we begin to digest the comments made by the Special One. In fairness, Mourinho already boasts the likes of Eden Hazard and Oscar as well as players such as  Andre Schurrle, meaning he is not exactly struggling for talent. In fact, there are very few positions he needs to buy for.

One player we did think Mourinho may go back in for was Wayne Rooney. As we gather our thoughts, our landlord reminds us that the forward has just scored his 200th goal for United and will be near on impossible to sign now. Chelsea may well come to January and decide to spend given the potential for injuries – but for now Mourinho seems happy with what he has at his current disposal.

Will Mourinho keep his word? He said in the summer that he was only going for Rooney and then signed Eto’o. Let us know your thoughts below.
