Chinese consortium eyeing £700m Liverpool takeover

LiverpoolLiverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are discussing some reports that could see them turn into a European powerhouse, with a potential takeover in the works.

The Independent states a Chinese group, which his back by the government of the Far East nation, is attempting to buy-out Liverpool’s current owners, the Fenway Sports Group, in a lucrative £700m deal.

The proposal, made by SinoFortune, was first put onto the table in March and the company want to increase their impact in the UK, having spent a whopping £5.2billion on projects in the United Kingdom during the past 12 months.

One interesting proposal is the option of building a new stadium for the Reds in Liverpool’s docklands area, whilst other ideas include the redevelopment of Liverpool’s training facilities at Melwood and the establishment of football academies across China.

However, Liverpool’s current owners are reluctant to sell as they’re confident financial backing from the new TV rights in the Premier League and the reign of Jurgen Klopp can lead the Reds into a promising new era.
