Both Chelsea and table-toppers Manchester City are keeping tabs on Danish sensation Christian Eriksen. The 19-year-old is regarded as one of Europe’s brightest prospects and has recently been receiving the plaudits. The talented young attacking midfielder is being targeted by Europe’s elite clubs and a £30 million offer could seal the deal.
Christian Eriksen was named Dutch Football Talent of the Year and representatives from some of Europe’s biggest clubs sent scouts to watch the promising midfielder in action during Ajax’s 4-0 win over Dynamo Zagreb last Tuesday. The 19-year-old inevitably put an astounding display on show for his admirers, as he grabbed two assists along the way.
The young prodigy previously had trials with the likes of Chelsea, Milan and Barcelona but thought a move to Holland would be better to kick start his career. Eriksen stated: “My first step should not be too big. I knew that playing in the Netherlands would be very good for my development. Then Ajax arrived and that was a fantastic option”
If Eriksen were to move to another club it would more than likely happen at the end of the season. With three seasons under his belt, it could provide him with enough experience to finally take that next step and move to a bigger club. According to the ‘Daily Mail’, Chelsea have opened the bidding war with a £22 million offer which could trigger a reaction from City who obviously have the financial power to oust anyone in that department. It is rumoured that City will come in with a £30 million offer which could be enough to secure his services.
