Brazilian born striker Givanildo Vieira de Souza otherwise known as “Hulk” has become highly desired by many clubs all over Europe. He has made a stunning start to the season, hitting ten goals in nine league starts including two in the 5-0 demolition of title rivals Benfica on Sunday.
Manchester City scouts have been watching the 24 year-old and rumours suggest they will be making a bid when the transfer window opens in January. His strength, pace and powerful shots will definitely suit the physical style of the premier league and clubs like Liverpool and Tottenham are also keeping tabs on him.
In the absence of Fernando Torres, the young Frenchman David N’Gog has yet to impress in the league especially and Livepool have been duly been relying on the ever-present Steven Gerrard to provide the creativity. The Kop are hoping Torres can kick-on from his magnificent brace which helped them beat Chelsea but the injury-prone Spaniard needs back up.
Spurs have been struggling to find goals in the league this term, scoring just fourteen goals in twelve games. With Jermain Defoe out, the likes of Crouch and Pavlyuchenko have struggled to find the net. It looks as if Robbie Keane will be on his way out in January and with Harry preferring a 4-4-1-1 formation, a player like Hulk could be what they are looking for. He can hold the ball up or even play alongside any of the other three strikers.
Budget-wise, all three clubs will be able to afford the player who is valued in the region of £15-20 million which is good value for money with the attributes he possesses. They all will definitely benefit from a player like Hulk but he has recently said he would like to stay in Portugal at this current time. Juventus, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have also been linked to the star but no bids and yet been placed. A major drawback for these teams interested is that he will be cup-tied due to already playing champions league football this term.
Manchester City would be favourites to sign him due to the extortionate wages they can offer. On current form they also look most likely to get the champions league qualifying place and this would also attract Hulk to them. Spurs and Liverpool can’t offer the same wages but if they can produce the kind of displays they are capable of, who knows where they might finish and this could also sway the Brazilian’s decision if he decides to leave Porto.
