Manchester City are planning a £6 million January move for Rubin Kazan full back Cristian Ansaldi according to the News of the World. The 22-year-old Argentine, who is a left back by trade but can also operate on the right, has excelled for Rubin so far this season, playing a big role in their Champions League group which saw them almost qualify for the next round despite being pitted against European giants Barcelona and Inter Milan.
City have disappointed this season after being expected to make the Top Four following a massive spending spree in the summer. The answer? More signings, and a full back is one of Mark Hughes’ top priorities with first choice left back Wayne Bridge out injured.
Should City wish to bring the former Spartak Moscow man in though they will have to fight for him as Real Madrid and Juventus are both believed to be interested in the impressive young Argentinean. City have the financial might to outdo either of these clubs in the bid for Ansaldi but will have to hope he sees them as a more appealing prospect than their bigger rivals.
The signing of Ansaldi would probably spell the end of the City career of former Real Sociedad full back Javier Garrido who is something of a forgotten man at Eastlands and is being linked with a January move back to Spain.
[Is there any substance to this and should this rumour Fly or Die?]
