Manchester City are already being linked with players to replace want-away captain, Carlos Tevez; one of them, Rogelio Funes Mori, has actually been on Roberto Mancini’s radar for a while, and has also been watched by Manchester United.
The striker is said to be keen on a move to Europe, and although River Plate will demand a high price for their starlet, money is no object for City, who will be keen to resolve their striker shortage as quickly as possible.
However, City look set to miss out on Mori, who is instead thought to be heading to AC Milan. The 19 year-old will be part of a double deal, with team-mate Erik Lamela also heading to the San Siro.
Mori won his first professional contract through as US reality TV programme, and played for FC Dallas before being poached by River Plate, for whom he has been something of a revelation this season.
His fast-track to fame and fortune looks set to continue, but it will not happen at Eastlands, where life right now is far from a fairytale. Now, with three strikers on their books desperate to leave the club, City have been given a harsh reality check, and Mancini will be under immense pressure to bring in the right players to re-invigorate their attacking options.
The City boss looks to be in for a busy time come January.
