That’s about £41million in real money. Manchester City and Real Madrid are set to battle it out for Palermo ace Javier Pastore. The Argentine play maker has appeared under the radar of some of the elite European sides following an impressive season for the Italian club, who finished 4th in Serie A .
It is questionable whether Roberto Mancini’s side would benefit with the addition of yet another attacking midfielder as David Silva is just one example amongst others who are perfectly capable of playing just off the striker.
The 21-year-old has expressed a desire to play for Spanish giants Barcelona, alongside a certain international teammate:
“For an Argentine to play in the La Liga is normal, especially for the language.”
“Wearing the jersey of Barcelona with Lionel Messi is a dream, but it remains such. Now I think only of Palermo and the league.”
It comes as no surprise that club president, Guglielmo Micciche hopes to hang on to Pastore for at least one more Serie A campaign.
‘We will enjoy Javier this season, as we know keeping him beyond this season will be difficult.
‘The offers that have already come in for him are tough to refuse. In the next few seasons, we shall see what happens, as we have refused many offers for him.’
