The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have high hopes for him…
Chelsea have struggled defensively this season, and that fact has left the Blues faithful in the Football Transfer Tavern longing for defensive reinforcements.
Big money names like Leonardo Bonucci have been linked with the club, but many in the Tavern are longing for the return of Chelsea loanee Andreas Christensen – who is currently playing for Borussia Monchengladbach.
The German side have impressed so far this season, and since embarking on a 2-year-loan with the club last year – Danish starlet Andreas Christensen has cemented his place within their first team.
However, whilst the loan was seen as a move to progress Christensen ahead of a Chelsea return; it would appear that the club are hoping to hold on to him long-term.
According to the Evening Standard, Monchengladbach are hopeful of an extended deal for the Chelsea starlet, and whilst a permanent move appears unlikely – an extended loan move could work for the German side.
Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has recently spoken about the possibility:: “Maybe we can loan him for another one or two years? If he was with us for three to four whole years, that would be a great story”.
He continued: “If Chelsea cannot offer him that [regular game time], we might have a chance to have him with us even longer”.
It would appear that Eberl is hopeful.
Our landlord thinks that any move is unlikely. With John Terry’s contract expiring and Gary Cahill’s poor form leaving his future uncertain; the Blues need all the defensive depth they can get.
The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern have been absolutely delighted with his form – and they think that he could be the perfect player to replace Gary Cahill long-term, with Kurt Zouma earmarked to take over from John Terry.
