‘Class act’, ‘Magnificent’ – West Ham fans thrilled with duo following Tottenham triumph

West Ham supporters were making all the noise in the Transfer Tavern on Wednesday night after seeing their side produce a sensational performance to come from 2-0 down to beat Tottenham 3-2 in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup at Wembley.

Manager Slaven Bilic was under intense scrutiny and was reportedly given their clash with Mauricio Pochettino’s men and Saturday’s trip to Crystal Palace to save his job, but things weren’t looking good at half time when Moussa Sissoko and Dele Alli gave the hosts a two-goal cushion. However, the Hammers responded admirably with Andre Ayew bagging a brace within five minutes of each other to level proceedings, before Angelo Ogbonna sent the away support into raptures by glancing home Manuel Lanzini’s teasing corner 20 minutes from time.

Unsurprisingly, our resident West Ham fans were celebrating into the early hours in the Tavern on Wednesday night, and they will surely be looking forward to the quarter-final draw, which will take place on Thursday afternoon.

At half-time, things looked bleak for Bilic with his side two goals behind and comfortably second best, but a sterling second half display suggests that the manager still retains the faith of his players, and as such sets them up perfectly for a vital trip to Palace on Saturday in the Premier League.

And two men in particular stood out at Wembley on Wednesday night, notably Ayew and young defender Declan Rice, both of whom showed a relentless work-ethic and desire to get the Hammers back into the contest, and ultimately get them over the line to reach the last eight of the competition for the second successive season.

And several West Ham fans took to Twitter to praise the duo for their excellent efforts at Wembley on Wednesday…
