Arsenal finally went out on a limb in this transfer window and despite losing Alexis Sanchez to a swap deal with Manchester United, the Gunners added the £60m signing of Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, much to the delight of many fans here in the Tavern.
The Gabon international brings another element of star power to the ranks for the Gunners, and manager Arsene Wenger will be hoping for an immediate impact from his big money signing over the coming months.
Here in the Tavern, our landlord thinks that the Gunners aren’t too far away from finally being able to challenge right at the summit of the Premier League, but thinks one or two more additions will be needed to get them there.
One such player who he thinks can be a superb addition at the Emirates is PSG midfielder Marco Verratti, who has been delivering consistently excellent performances for the French giants over the course of a few seasons now.
Verratti is the exact sort of player Arsenal need to make their midfield tick, and he has a bit of grit about him too, something which has been missing for a while despite the addition of Polish midfielder Granit Xhaka.
The little Italian is a dynamic player in the middle of the park, and could add a real spark to the Gunners as they go in pursuit of silverware. While their attacking options look full of potential with players with bags of ability, adding someone like Verratti could well prove to be one of the final and most crucial pieces of the jigsaw.
Arsenal fans, what do you think to this? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
