Club captain talks to controversial Premier League striker after deadline day madness

berahino00Our resident West Bromwich Albion fans enjoying a pint of the local ale here in the Transfer Tavern are still bemused at the actions of Baggies striker Saido Berahino, after the 22-year-old threatened to go on strike in a tweet directed at club chairman Jeremy Peace, after he blocked a move to Tottenham – turning down three bids from the club.

Club captain Darren Fletcher has revealed to the Daily Mail that he has had a word with the England striker this week in an attempt to get the players head back on track and focused on West Brom’s season – at least until January.

Berahino returned to the West Brom squad for their game on Saturday, having had two weeks off following his deadline day outburst. He received a mixed reception when he came off the bench to play 35 minutes of their dull goalless draw against Southampton.

It is clear that Berahino’s long term future does not lie at the Hawthorns but whilst the club still have him on their books its hard to leave the player out

Our resident West Brom fans here in the Transfer Tavern are glad to see him return to the team as long as he is ready, and are hoping that Manager Tony Pulis and captain Darren Fletcher can focus the talented forward to help West Brom climb the table.

What do you make of the Berahino saga? Should he stay or go in January? Let us know below!
