Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have seen their day take a turn for the worse, as they sheltered from the rain at the bar but were welcomed by negative reports on the transfer front.
Goal state that Schalke have ruled-out the possibility of Cameroon international Joel Matip leaving to join Jurgen Klopp in Liverpool this month, contrary to reports which suggested the Reds are keen on a deal.
Matip’s signature is likely to be up for grabs in the summer as his contract with the German side comes to a close and Liverpool want the 24-year-old centre-back at Anfield. Whilst there have been suggestions of a move in January, Schalke chairman Clemens Tonnies dismissed those rumours.
“Matip to Liverpool this month? That’s a hoax,”
Matip, a product of Schalke’s academy, has developed into a crucial player for the Bundesliga side and they’re keen to tie him down to a new deal. However, our landlord believes Matip will end up at Liverpool this summer.
Liverpool fans, can you afford to wait until the summer for Matip? Let us know in the comments below!
