Club legend backs this man to become Liverpool’s best player

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been very excited by Divock Origi’s recent displays.

And this is an opinion echoed by Liverpool FC legend Ian St John, according to the club’s official website.

The 22-year-old has stepped up in the absence of Sadio Mane, scoring two goals in recent weeks.

Origi struck in consecutive games against Everton and then Bournemouth as he continues his development.

That’s 10 goals in 38 games now for the striker, who has mainly had to settle for a spot on the bench during his career at Liverpool.

However, former Liverpool and Scotland striker Ian St John is getting very excited about Origi’s development and has backed him to become the best player at the club in a few years.

The 78-year-old told the club’s official website:

“He will develop through his training and the coaching at the club, the advice he is getting from the manager downwards, and you can see confidence coming in the lad.

“If everybody is fit he might not be in the team and be first pick, but when there’s injuries it’s great to have him to come on.

“One of these days he is going to be the guy who is going to oust them and be the No.1 man in the team.

“He’s a very interesting player and I think he will become a fan favourite.”

There are high hopes for Origi if he can continue to develop at this rate and perform when called upon.

Our landlord thinks that the Belgium international is a very exciting prospect and Liverpool need to keep him at the club.
