Club official confirms 21-year-old will leave for Chelsea this summer

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been impressed with Andreas Christensen this season, and many have been hoping that he will return to the club this summer…

Of course, his current loan with Borussia Monchengladbach concludes at the end of the season, though it would not be unusual for him to go back out on loan – as many of his colleagues have done in recent years.

It would appear as though that will not be the case, though, with Borussia Monchengladbach director Max Eberl revealing that the defender will be leaving the club and returning to Chelsea this summer. According to Kicker, he said: “We will lose him [Christensen] because he has to go back”.

Whilst Eberl hasn’t ruled out the idea of him returning, the director appears convinced that the defender will have a role at Stamford Bridge next season, and with good reason. He has been on fire in the Bundesliga as of late, becoming a key part of an impressive Monchengladbach outfit.

Technical, strong and defensively solid – Christensen has been playing beyond his years as of late, and with John Terry set to leave Chelsea at the end of the season – perhaps the Danish international could be the perfect replacement.

At 21-years-old, the defender is impressing – and the Chelsea fans can’t wait to see what he can do under Conte.
