The Tottenham Hotspur fans sat in the corner by the pool table in the Transfer Tavern have been handed a crushing blow this afternoon, after it was made clear that a prime target would not be moving this month.
The Guardian states that Fulham have informed the Premier League title chasers that forward Moussa Dembele would not be sold this month, crushing Spurs’ hopes of landing the striker as cover for Harry Kane.
Tottenham have been searching for a potential partner or cover for Kane since last summer and 19-year-old Dembele flew onto their plans following his impressive performances for Fulham this season, who has scored 11 goals in all competitions.
However, Fulham don’t intend on selling the player despite the fact his contract is due to expire at the end of the season as they want Dembele to help fight-off the threat of relegation to the third-tier of English football.
It means Tottenham’s only hope in signing Dembele this month would be on a loan deal, similar to the one that was negotiated for MK Dons- which would see the young forward join Spurs this month but return to the struggling West London side on-loan until the summer.
Our landlord feels that would still be a good move for Spurs as the young forward has plenty to offer and is a massive prospect for the future.
