Club waiting on Man United approach for £70m Chelsea target

The Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern this week are convinced that sooner rather than later Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata will be a United player, however, the Chelsea fans in the corner have something to say about that.

Both Premier League rivals have been linked with a move for the former Juventus forward, who was brought back to the Spanish capital at a cut rate last summer thanks to a buy-back clause in his deal when leaving the Bernabeu for Turin.

However, according to Madrid president Florentino Perez, there has been no approach for the 24-year-old from anyone.

Speaking to Spanish radio station Onda Cero, the Los Blancos official said:

“We haven’t received offers for anyone this summer,

“No one has offered us anything – not for Cristiano, not Morata – not James.

“We have a great team and, when the time comes, we will improve it.”

Our landlord reckons that United will be the ones to blink first as they have an immediate need to replace last season’s top scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has been released after picking up a long-term knee problem in their Europa League semi-final against Celta Vigo.

Chelsea would have to break their club record fee to bring the Spanish international to Stamford Bridge, with a £70m move reportedly on the cards.

United and Chelsea fans, we want to hear from you! Do you think Morata will be in the Premier League next season? If so, where? Let us know…
