A clause in Jamie Vardy’s contract which allows clubs in the Champions League to sign the striker for £20 million is worrying Premier League champions Leicester City, according to The Daily Mail.
Vardy was in fine form last season for the Foxes and only recently signed an improved contract on a reported £80,000 per-week, to try and thwart off any potential interest in the former non-league striker.
The news of the clause in his current deal is likely to attract interest from Manchester City, with the Citizens comprehensively scouting Vardy during his sensational 2015/16 campaign, in which he scored 24 goals to help the East Midlands-based outfit towards the Premier League title.
Leicester are hopeful that several of their star players from their title winning season will stay at the club but money will inevitably talk when the bigger clubs become involved.
One Leicester City fan here in the Transfer Tavern is not too concerned at the moment, stating that the euphoria of winning the title will hopefully tempt the players into a tilt at the Champions League next season.
Leicester City fans, what do you make to this clause? Will Jamie Vardy still be a Leicester player come August? How much is he worth in today’s market?
