‘Come back home’ – Newcastle United fans on Twitter urge for transfer return of magician

The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Rafa Benitez will have the funds to bring some fresh talent to St James’ Park this month.

The ownership situation at Newcastle United continues to remain a mystery for the supporters who want to see a swift conclusion to negotiations between Mike Ashley and Amanda Staveley. The lack of clarity over the future of the club remains a point of frustration for The Toon Army, but the frustration of Benitez must far exceed that of the supporters.

Not only does the speculation provide an unwanted distraction, but it also places Benitez in an awkward position where he is not entirely sure how much money he has to play with this month.

Despite the ownership situation, The Magpies on Twitter have been waging a discussion regarding potential signings for the club in the mid-season window.

Newcastle are currently just two points clear of the relegation zone in 13th position, so the acquisition of new signings this month could well be the difference between relegation and survival.

One target who has emerged as a surprise target for the supporters is their former employee and current PSG outcast Hatem Ben Arfa.

The French international left the club in January 2015 after failing to live up to his huge potential on Tyneside, however, the supporters appear to be more than willing to give Ben Arfa another chance this season.
