The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to their club’s Twitter post, wishing on-loan star, Divock Origi a happy birthday. The Belgian is currently at Wolfsburg having been deemed surplus to requirements this season, although the fans want to see the forward given a second chance next year.

Origi has divided opinion at Liverpool. Some fans want to see him in and around the first-team picture, as there’s no doubting that the 23-year-old provides goals, but some fans would happily see him sold as they believe they could make a tidy profit on the small fee they paid LOSC Lille for his signature back in summer 2014. The Belgian’s current loan spell isn’t doing a great job of promoting him to Jurgen Klopp, he’s scored five goals in 30 appearances for struggling Wolfsburg as they sit 14th in the Bundesliga with just five wins to their name.
Next season will be a strange one for Liverpool. Origi and Daniel Sturridge will be returning from loan, Danny Ings and Dominic Solanke are already at the club and Rhian Brewster looks set to be promoted to the first team. Considering that at the moment Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino look undroppable, it’s hard to see all of the aforementioned players sticking around on Merseyside. The fans have been calling for Origi to be one of those continuing his career at Anfield though, the Belgian has already scored 21 goals in his 77 outings as a Red and will be aiming to add to that upon his return.

We should keep him for next season. offload Solanke. Origi would give us something whenever he was in a Red's shirt.
