Liverpool are reportedly lining up a surprise January move for Norwich City midfielder Anthony Pilkington. The 23 year-old midfielder has been in excellent form for Norwich this season after joining the club from Huddersfield Town in the summer for around £2 million.
Pilkington has proved that he is capable of making the step up from League One to the Premier League, he has scored 4 goals in 10 appearances for the Canaries this season.
Liverpool are believed to be in the market for another player and preferably a winger. Jordan Henderson has been unconvincing for Liverpool on the right of their midfield and Pilkington may be sought out to offer more width to the side.
But Norwich will be very reluctant to sell a player who has been at the club for less than six months and has been one of their most consistent performers.
But a move to Liverpool would provide Pilkington with a big step up in the space of less than a year, with no disrespect to Norwich. Moving from Huddersfield, to Norwich and potentially onto Liverpool, would show how much Pilkington has developed as a player in the last few years.
This could finally become a chance for Pilkington to prove himself at one of the biggest clubs in the country after failing to make the grade at Manchester United as a youngster.
