The Liverpool supporters were absolutely furious in the Transfer Tavern last night after they conceded a last minute equaliser to draw 2-2 with Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.
Liverpool and Tottenham played out one of the most dramatic finales that the Premier League has bore witness to in recent times on Sunday afternoon. Mo Salah got The Reds off to a flying start after just 3 minutes as he capitalised on a mistake by Eric Dier to coolly slot the ball beyond a helpless Hugo Lloris.
The remainder of the fixture resembled something of a chess game with neither side able to make a decisive move, although Spurs were doing the majority of the attacking as Liverpool struggled to get a foothold in midfield.
However, the game exploded into life in the 80th minute when Victor Wanyama scored a definite contender for goal of the season as he crashed home a blockbuster of a strike on the half-volley to set up a grandstand finish.
Tottenham were awarded a penalty just moments later after Harry Kane was adjudged to have been fouled by Lorius Karius after he beat Liverpool’s goalkeeper to a 50:50 loose ball.
Kane received the opportunity after Dejan Lovren sliced an attempted clearance into his path, and Liverpool’s former hero Jamie Carragher slated the Croatian centre-back for his failure to clear his lines in the aftermath of proceedings.
The Liverpool supporters have often criticised Lovren for his performances this season, but they jumped to his defence on Twitter on this occasion and they urged Carragher to cut him some slack.
Here’s what the Liverpool supporters had to say about Carragher’s Lovren comments on Twitter…
Like Carra, but can he just shut up on Lovren today? He did great. Simple

Why always tormenting Lovren as if he is the only one who succumbs to such errors every member of the back line has had their share of misfortune…. Let the guy be…he has been the most outstanding in my view and always covering others mistakes…

Changed the record will Ye @Carra23

Carra’s mouth is always flapping. Lovren was good today.

Bit unfair

He was offside when the ball was played, Lovren had to go for the ball and it wasn’t a massive error. Not as if Carra ever made a mistake playing for the reds

Carra is a hero. Will allways be. But here He is wrong. Lovren can’t be blamed. Did a Good game.

That’s completely unfair. Can whiffed on the clearance by Karius and Wayama hit his screamer. Don’t hear anyone saying that sums up his career at Liverpool.

It's offside and a dive. Carragher is becoming a disgrace.
