The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern already have one eye on their side’s upcoming clash with Roma. The Reds are set to take on the Italian outfit in the second-leg of the Champions League next week.
Liverpool, though, have something more immediate to concern themselves with ahead of that game.
This weekend, they’re set to take on Stoke City in the Premier League, and Jurgen Klopp will want to ensure that his side continues to ride the wave of success leading into the return of the Champions League.
Significantly, the report doesn’t offer any further details, particularly with regards to their next game against Roma, but the news will no doubt leave Liverpool fans sweating on his status.
The Senegalese winger has been a key part of Liverpool’s first team this season, forming a brilliant partnership with both Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
He’s been the man for the Reds down the left-hand side, and so their attacking threat will certainly be reduced by his absence.
Landlord’s Verdict
Fans will likely be hoping that his expected absence this weekend will be just a precaution, as he will be very important to the cause in Europe next week.
Naturally, a player of his playstyle will be at risk of muscular injuries, and so it’s never a huge surprise when he does suffer a blow – but that doesn’t make it any less concerning.
Perhaps we’ll hear a little more from Jurgen Klopp later today in his press conference.
