Concerning reports emerge as journalist drops worrying Tottenham update

Tottenham fans here in the Tavern are hopeful that their side can redefine their early season form, as they’ll need to be at their best to secure a Champions League spot.

Mauricio Pochettino has built one of the biggest legacies that Tottenham fans have ever come to witness at the club, after providing Spurs with a successful past three or so years and the foundations to build for a promising future. However, when you’ve established yourself as one of the best managers in the whole of world football, some of Europe’s giants are going to come calling. As according to reports from Spanish Football Expert Guillem Balague at Sky Sports, Mauricio Pochettino tops Real Madrid’s list as the preferred replacement for Zinedine Zidane.

Real Madrid are in a whole heap of bother as they currently find themselves 19 points adrift of Barcelona occupying first place, as the Frenchman looks to be living out his last days as manager of the Los Blancos side. But, with the Spanish giants only looking to sack the manager if a suitable replacement is readied, Mauricio Pochettino appears to be the only man that they’d like to become his predecessor.

However, they may have trouble in luring away a settled Mauricio Pochettino from the English capital, with a new stadium adding incentive for the Argentine to continue his legacy in North London. And, after missing out on the chance to trigger a buy-out clause in the Argentine’s contract back in 2016, this option has now been removed in his latest contract making it an even more difficult task to complete.

And, if Spurs fans are fearing the worst, then here’s some words from Spanish Football Expert Guillem Balague on their current manager:

“He definitely wants Pochettino, there’s no doubt about that. I’m pretty sure Mauricio and Spurs know that themselves, but it doesn’t mean anything.”

“Pochettino has often said his future does not depend on him and there’s truth in that.”

“Now there is no buy-out clause, so for Pochettino to move to Real Madrid they would have to convince Daniel Levy, something Real won’t be able to do.”

Landlord’s Verdict:

Mauricio Pochettino is the heart and soul of the football club, and a man that Daniel Levy will not want to see the back of anytime soon. After giving them some of their most successful seasons in recent history, it’s clear to see that prospects of a new stadium and continuing to progress the club is something that the Argentine values massively.
