Waking up to news of another loan deal for a young player has become a part of the daily routine for the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern…
Already this summer a host of players have departed the club on a temporary basis, with a number of other young stars expected to follow suit.
News of a departure today, though, is slightly more significant than most – as it involves a player that has already had an impact in a Chelsea shirt. As confirmed on Chelsea’s official website, Tomas Kalas has secured a temporary move to Fulham ahead of the new campaign. That’s not all, either, with the defender also putting pen to paper on a new four year deal at Stamford Bridge.
Kalas is well-known amongst Chelsea circles for his fine performance against Liverpool 2013/14 campaign, with the defender excelling in very difficult circumstances.
Still, clearly Conte hasn’t seen enough from him to warrant an extended stay at Stamford Bridge or a spot in the pre-season tour, so a loan move does make the most sense for the defender.
Against Liverpool, Kalas looked ready to be a first teamer, but it hasn’t quite worked out how he had likely planned at present.
Like so many of Chelsea’s players, Kalas has become another name in a long list of men spending their time away from the club, though Kalas has done better than most.
A new deal, particularly one of such length, does suggest that Chelsea see a future for Kalas at Stamford Bridge, so perhaps another stellar year away from the club could see him make the step up.
Our landlord thinks that he is very talented, but perhaps he isn’t good enough for the Blues given the depth in the Chelsea squad.
