Contact made over Man United defender deal

The Manchester United fans out in the beer garden at the Football Transfer Tavern have been enjoying the surge in transfer rumours surrounding their side this week as manager Jose Mourinho looks to get his plans going.

The Red Devils boss has already landed a deal for Swedish defender Victor Lindelof, but must now press on with other summer business.

While incoming players are a priority for the former Chelsea boss before the new season, he will also be looking to clear a number of players from his squad.

One of those could well be Italian full-back Matteo Darmian, after a journalist from his home country claimed contact had been made over a sale.

According to Tancredi Palmeri, Serie A side Roma have approached the powers that be at Old Trafford over a deal to sign the 27-year-old, who filled in at left-back for Mourinho in the latter stages of last season.

Before fans jump to any conclusions however, our landlord is quick to point out that Mr. Palmeri is never the most trusted of sources, but could well be onto something here as it would be a deal which makes sense.

United fans, we want to hear from you! Do you think Mourinho should sell up or has Darmian got something to offer this season? Let us know below…
