Conte and Granovskaia hold transfer talks as Blues reportedly consider move for £13.5m-rated attacker

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern fear that their side is running out of time…

Whilst a win against Tottenham on Sunday has helped to calm fears for the time being, Chelsea’s problems are very apparent, with Antonio Conte in desperate need of further depth.

Having had to rely on a bench made up mostly of inexperienced players, the Italian needs to bulk out his options before the summer is over, and according to the Mirror, Antonio Conte has held talks with Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia in an effort to do just that.

Coming out of those meetings, it is said that the Blues have been considering a move for Leicester City attacker Jamie Vardy, who is rated at £13.5 million by Transfer Markt, with Chelsea keen to improve their options up front.

Vardy’s story is a fairytale for most fans, having made his way up from the non-league through to the Premier League in wonderful fashion. A star for Leicester during their title-winning campaign, he has impressed over the last few years.

A move for him, then, does make sense, and so the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern would love to see it happen.

Landlord’s Verdict

Jamie Vardy isn’t exactly a household name outside of the UK, and his signing will not generate much excitement around the continent, but he would be a decent option for the Blues.

At 30-years-old, he will likely be looking to secure his last big contract, and so a move to Chelsea could tempt him.

He would need to be a depth option, but he’s been prolific.
