Conte considering alternatives with Chelsea reportedly contemplating move for reliable striker

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t feeling very optimistic this evening…

Many supporters have spent the last few weeks expecting their side to seal a deal for Everton ace Romelu Lukaku, but that now looks unlikely. According to the BBC, Man Utd have agreed a deal with Everton for Lukaku – with the Belgian now seemingly edging closer to a move to Old Trafford.

This has left Chelsea in a tough spot, with the Blues linked with a move for Lukaku over the last few weeks as Antonio Conte looks to reinvigorate his attacking line.

It now appears as though the Italian could be forced to look elsewhere, and the Times are reporting that he has potentially found a target. According to the Times, Chelsea are keen on a move for Fernando Llorente once again, having failed with a move in January.

Llorente would represent a very different option to Lukaku, but an interesting one nonetheless. Whilst he doesn’t have the characteristic ruthlessness and fire of Lukaku, he does offer a strong record of goalscoring – with the Spaniard proving his worth over the course of a prolific career.

In contrast to Lukaku, he is a far more experienced option, but with Chelsea’s options looking limited at present, Conte is – at the very least – considering a move.
