The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are having second thoughts on their support for the signing of Tiemoue Bakayoko…
Though he has impressed for much of the season, a couple of poor Champions League performances have brought doubts to the fans in the pub, and so this report from the Daily Mail is unlikely to fill them with much excitement.
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are confident that they will be able to land the midfielder this summer, with a move of around £30 million currently on the table. That being said, given how many clubs are reportedly keen on him, any deal is still some way off and will not be easy to get over the line – despite the Blues confidence.
This move is a really divisive one in the pub, as whilst he has performed poorly as of late, there is no doubting the talent that he has. Powerful, energetic, dynamic – these are just some of the words that can be used to describe Bakayoko when he is on form.
That being said, though, our landlord doesn’t think that he would be able to display Nemanja Matic or Cesc Fabregas in the Chelsea midfield at present, given their fine form, and so he isn’t sure that this deal represents good value for Chelsea.
Nothing is going to bring down the mood of the Chelsea fans in the pub, though, with Friday evening’s clash against West Brom set to bring the Premier League trophy back to Stamford Bridge with a win.
