The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been feeling pretty glum this week. The Blues fell to a defeat last weekend, leaving their chances of finishing in the top four looking slim.
This season, then, looks set to be a bit of a write-off for the Blues, and so preparations must soon begin for next season. One thing that almost looks certain is that Antonio Conte won’t be the boss come August. In truth, the Italian looks finished at Stamford Bridge – with his team selection, tactical preparation and decisions on the sidelines becoming more baffling by the week.
This summer, Roman Abramovich would be wise to replace him, and our landlord thinks that Juventus boss Massimillo Allegri would be the perfect replacement.
Allegri has been building quite the reputation over the last few years over in Italy. Having taken over the mantle from Antonio Conte, the Italian has impressed at the helm of the Old Lady, bringing incredible tactical awareness and decision-making to a team that expects nothing but total domination. Significantly, he has also impressed in Europe – with a flurry of impressive performances taking his team to the final of the Champions League twice.
He has already shown what he can do against English competition in Europe, having masterminded a remarkable comeback against Tottenham earlier this season.
Though he’s a defensive manager, which may not be too popular amongst fans, he gets results, and that’s what Abramovich is demanding at present. He’s the perfect manager to take Chelsea forward – and the Blues can’t afford to miss out on him this summer.
