Conte must turn to this £33m man to replace Costa at Chelsea

The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are growing more concerned about a lack of movement in replacing the probably departing Diego Costa.

It looks extremely likely that Diego Costa will be departing Chelsea this summer, with AC Milan emerging as the front runners for his signature as they attempt to rebuild their squad.

Ever since these rumours emerged, Chelsea have been linked with a host of Europe’s best forwards, Romelu Lukaku, Alvaro Morata, Andrea Belotti and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to name a few.

Whilst it must be exciting for Chelsea fans to be linked with all of these world class forwards, our landlord can’t help but think, why doesn’t Michy Batshuayi get given an opportunity as Chelsea’s main striker?

The Belgian striker signed for the Premier League champions in 2016 for £33 million and has barely had a sniff at first team football since.

Aged just 23, he has his best years ahead of him, but if he doesn’t get the chance at Stamford Bridge soon, then those best years may be spent somewhere else.

Fun fact for you all, Batshuayi managed an average of one goal every 47 minutes in the Premier League last season, so what does that tell you? If he gets a chance, he takes it.

It’s not like he was given an opportunity and didn’t make the impression that Conte had hoped, he is yet to get a serious run in the Chelsea first team and our landlord believes he at least deserves a chance at that.

There are plenty of other players within the Chelsea ranks who have the ability to score plenty of goals so why not give him a chance and if it doesn’t work out, go for someone in January.

You don’t want another ‘what could have been story’ do you?
