It has been a tough summer for the Blues in the Transfer Tavern…
Chelsea have really struggled to nail down their targets this year, despite winning the Premier League last summer, with most of the fans in the pub writing off their chances for domestic glory this season.
It takes a bold supporter to write off the Blues, given what they achieved last season, but this time round it’s hard to disagree. They’ve landed a few players, sure, but they’ve also lost a number of players, and in truth their squad looks poor.
Work is being done behind the scenes to amend their problems, but they’re having a bit of trouble by the looks of it.
According to Calcio Mercato, Chelsea have had yet another bid rejected for Juventus defender Alex Sandro, with the Italian outfit clearly refusing to budge in their decision to hold on to the Brazilian. Conte, it is said, is furious about the decision – with the manager suffering yet another blow this summer.
It has been problem after problem for Conte so far this summer, and it doesn’t appear as though a deal for Sandro is going to happen. From the outside, it appears as though the defender has been his top target, but it looks as though the Blues will fall short.
Though not entirely Chelsea’s fault, the club’s reported failure to land one of Conte’s key targets is undoubtedly going to increase tensions behind the scenes – with the water already hitting boiling point before the transfer window has even closed.
With just a few weeks to go, Chelsea simply must start considering alternatives – as they can’t afford to finish the summer empty handed.
